AN ANSWER TO PRAYER

Hiking Indian Staircase at the Red River Gorge

May 8, 2023
I have big news. I am pregnant! The morning of Brighton’s birthday party, I took a pregnancy test because I just had this feeling that I should. It showed up positive and I had such a wild range of emotions. It’s still so hard to believe.

We went camping this weekend in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky and it was just amazing. I cannot wait to go back and explore some more. I told Kyle about our new baby the morning we left and he was really happy, and not nearly as surprised as I was! Thank you Lord for another answer to prayer. Please God, let everything be healthy with this sweet baby. I pray that this baby knows it is treasured day by day just like both of it’s big brothers.

Lassen did some tough hikes!

Kyle and I celebrated 8 years of marriage a couple of days ago. So much has happened in that time; really big highs and really devastating lows, but we have made it. Praying we continue to stay focused on God and our family. Kyle and I had such a great conversation about how good it is to be here in Indiana with an incredible support group of friends and family and how that made all of the difference when we had Brighton. So grateful for God who orchestrates the chaos of our lives so beautifully.

I was talking to my baby tonight while watering Brighton’s butterfly garden, telling him or her all about Brighton and Lassen. It is so crazy to think we most likely wouldn’t have this baby if we had Brighton with us today.

Thank you Lord for this miracle. Praying that my body stays strong and healthy during this pregnancy and asking for a healthy baby to raise with Lassen. I trust in Your goodness Lord. Thank you for using imperfect people throughout scripture in Your ultimate plan. I am certainly imperfect and I yearn to be used by You.

First Mother's Day as a mom of 3!

Our electricians were back today to work on some things for us and David was telling us that he always loved the verse we had written over the doorway going into the garage.

Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

He said his dad had recently been diagnosed with cancer and he bought both of them a necklace with that verse on it. We had written on our walls for ourselves but I love that God used that writing to reach someone else.

Tomorrow, I am so excited because we are taking Lassen to his first IndyCar experience! Qualifications for the Indy 500. The last time he was at the track, he was 6 weeks old in my belly when we went for Mom’s racing experience, and then we all ended up going on rides around the track in the rain! So technically, Lassen has been on the road course. And now I am taking our sweet new baby in his/her 6th week of life too! Brighton never experienced May in Indy but I know he is with us.

I listened to a podcast today about waiting for God’s promises and it was so good. Waiting can be hard, but knowing what God has promised makes it worth it. I am still really loving my Bible Recap plan and am consistently blown away by God using messed up people like me for His plan to save the world. His love for us is more than we could ever comprehend.

I am 7 weeks and 4 days with my answered prayer of a baby. It is so powerful to me that the month Kyle said we needed to pray for 2 babies to raise here on Earth was the month we got pregnant. Thank you Jesus. Please take any fear and replace it with gratitude and trust.

Tomorrow is our first ultrasound for our new baby! I am equal parts excited and nervous and disbelieving in a way because it is still such a miracle. I’ve been praying that God replaces my fears and nervousness with trust in Him. I will continue to praise Him.
