Wow! What an incredible display of love for our Brighton boy today! I couldn’t have asked for it to be any more perfect, honestly. The weather was beautiful. We were surrounded by family who love Brighton so much. There was so much joy and laughter and tears and mourning but also great hope that we will see him again!

I was so thankful God gave me the strength to read what I had written about Brighton’s journey and 12 answered prayers and miracles along the way. It felt really good to share.

Lunch was great and everyone chipped in to make it delicious and special. We painted rocks in Brighton’s memory for us to have in our garden, as well as for everyone else to take some home too. Jenna painted an amazing moon and mom painted an elephant.

We had a hay wagon ride out to the area behind our house which we have named “Brighton’s Hill” and we planted three more trees. We then flew kites! It was so fun because we were all running around laughing pulling our kites because there was no wind, and then all of a sudden, there was a big gust – Brighton gave us some help!- and the kites took off, high into the sky! My nephew Tarik got pictures with the drone of us flying kites from Brighton’s perspective which made me so happy. Just so good. So, so good.

We had cupcakes that Karen’s friend made and butterfly cookies Mom’s friend made. Everybody loved looking at all of Brighton’s pictures and gifts we have been given to remember him by. I just felt like everyone got to know him a little better.

Kayla made an incredible quilt with fabric from every person in our family and included scraps in the front pocket (from my Grandma’s volunteer uniform at the hospital!) with who gave what fabric and why. It is so beautiful and meaningful.

And to top it off, a FULL MOON! God, You have held our hearts so close and we will always praise Your name! We love you Brighton Wilder! I hope you felt our love today.
