THE LORD MAKE HIS FACE SHINE UPON YOU

Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me…
Thank you Lord, that we walk
THROUGH the valley and aren’t stuck IN the valley. Please be close to our
hearts as we pick up Brighton’s ashes tomorrow and bring his earthly body home
with us.

Today, we brought Brighton home for the first time, in an urn. Not
the homecoming I imagined from the beginning. Not the carrier I imagined.
Nothing how I imagined it would be, or should be, but this is our story and God
continues to work behind the scenes and use Brighton to bring people together.
We met with Macy Lewis today
at O’Riley Branson funeral home in Greenwood. I have emailed with her since
January and it was nice to finally meet her in person, even though I wish we
had never met that way. Her hands shook as she opened the box with Brighton’s
urn that I brought with us. She took it and was back with Brighton in only a few
minutes. I appreciated that she used his name and talked like he was there. She
brought a bag with his clothes and hat that she had washed, which made me sad
to not have his scent on them, but at least I still have his blanket and my bra
which I never washed. I just didn’t even know to ask her not to wash them.
We got to talking and she was
asking Lassen about animals and we brought up that we lived on a farm with
cows. Turns out, she grew up on a farm as well in Clayton, not too far from
Greencastle. She recognized our last name and knew Kyle’s cousin and her husband
from showing pigs! Such a small world- not a coincidence! As we were about to
leave, Lassen, who had been flirting with Macy the whole time, said “hug” and
went over and gave her a big hug! He never does that, especially with
strangers. It’s like he knew she had taken great care of his brother. So many
people were praying for us today and God was near. He calmed my nerves and made
picking up Brighton a “good” experience.
“The Lord bless you and keep
you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord
lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
