JESUS IS OUR HIDING PLACE
May 2, 2022
Is this real life? Why is my baby not with me? My body aches for
him. I know he is completely safe and healthy and loved and happy, but I want
him here with me. Jesus, please be close. I love you and trust you God and I
know you know what it is like to lose your son. Please keep showing us the
light and glimpses of our perfect boy.
We went to the farm today
after mom and dad left. I took an exceptionally long nap. Lassen helped Kyle
mow the yard and make feed in the mixer for the cows. We drove back to our new
house site because they began moving dirt while we were in the hospital. It is
really making me happy, the thought of living here because I will be able to
see Brighton in the sunrises and sunsets more easily every single day.
The funeral home called and said Brighton is in their care, which was so hard
to process, but I know it’s not him anymore – he is in HEAVEN with so many
family members and other sweet babes of mamas I have grown to love.
I started writing Brighton’s
obituary. I never thought I would ever have to do that. It is another chance to
share his story and tell people about the goodness of Jesus.
Brighton Wilder Birt was born on Saturday, April 30th,
2022 at 8:39am to proud parents Kyle and Jill Birt at St. Francis Hospital in
Indianapolis, Indiana. He weighed 4 pounds, 1 ounce and was 15 ½ inches long.
Brighton was brave and strong enough to let his parents know he loved them
before peacefully being carried into Heaven in the arms of Jesus.
At twelve weeks, Brighton was given a life-limiting
diagnosis. His parents chose to make the most of whatever time he had and to
celebrate each day with their son. During Brighton’s nine months with his mom,
dad and brother, he went on many adventures. He visited five states, traveled
by car, airplane, and boat, climbed mountains in Tennessee and hiked trails all
over Indiana, visited the beach in Florida and went swimming, ran many miles
with his mom while pushing his big brother in the stroller, went camping, and
tasted a lot of ice cream. His time with his family was joy filled and
deliberate.
Brighton is survived by his loving parents, Kyle and Jill
(Floyd) Birt (Indianapolis, IN); brother Lassen Birt (Indianapolis, IN);
paternal grandparents Jerry and Karen Birt (Greencastle, IN); maternal
grandparents Tom and Sheri Floyd (Bloomington, IL); aunts and uncles Luke and
Kacie Chase, Chris and Kayla Flegal, Zack and Jenna Brewer, and Jordan and Kara
Brinkman; cousins Sterling, Dia, Nelson, Tarik, Bennett, Rhea, and Clark, and
many other family and friends. He was loved deeply and will be forever missed.
A private celebration of life will be held with his family
later this year. Memorial contributions may be made to the Love, Lucas
Foundation. https://lovelucas.org/
