FLORIDA!

My parents live down in Florida during the winter months and we have been fortunate to go visit them most years. I joke that it's the only way I can survive a Midwest winter. I need the sunshine and sandy beach to get through the cold months. We wanted to make sure Brighton had the chance to visit Florida while he was still with us and we were able to make it happen.

We made it to Florida! Lassen was great on the plane, and this was Brighton’s first flight too! So happy that we get to spend a long time down here with my parents. Suzy was able to come down with us too for a long weekend and then Kyle will come in a few days for a week!

It was 80 degrees today! Suzy and I ran down to the beach in Venice and saw about 50 rays in the water! We walked down to the farmers market in town and met mom, dad, and Lassen. We got bretzels (bagel pretzels) and empanadas. Just adding onto Brighton’s list of fun foods! I love that Brighton had his first visit to the beach today too! Another place I love that I can share with my son.

27 weeks today with my sweet Brighton! I think I am in my 3^rd trimester (how do I not know this?) which makes me sad because this last trimester went so quickly. I feel the fear sometimes of how fast this last trimester will go and knowing what happens at the end. However, in typical Jill fashion, I focus on the present and the positives. I love feeling him move and kick and he is with me in this moment.

Brighton has been so active and strong – I’ve felt him so much more than I ever did with Lassen which is such an amazing miracle. I don’t think he likes it if I lay on my back as he starts to kick like crazy. I also think I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions for the last couple of weeks. Please Lord, give me as much time as possible with him.

February 20, 2022
We went on a 2 hour boat cruise with live music up in Sarasota today! Brighton’s first boat ride and Lassen loved it! He waved at all the boats we passed and was dancing to the music.

Tonight, while I was reading to Lassen, Brighton was kicking a lot and I told Lassen. He put his hand on my belly and Kyle asked him if he felt his brother kick. Lassen has the sweetest little voice and he said, “Yeah.” I don’t know if he actually did but it made me cry. It was so bittersweet. We want Lassen to know his brother so all of these small moments matter.
